As far as I can tell, your best seller and art you are most known for is your concentrate artwork. How did you come up with the idea for these? Were you doing other projects at the time?

During the initial phase of the pandemic, I (like many others), decided to start crafting! I wanted to create something simple but also effective in ending the stigma to cannabis consumers. I went on Etsy to see if there was anything else similar and I could only find ONE creator who was selling one pin for upwards of $50 per unit! When I saw that, I was even more inspired to create identical concentrates displays at an affordable price.  Patients from all over the country have sent me their empty/used dab containers as a donation to continue to fuel my small business. Without the generosity of the cannabis community, I wouldn’t have had such a successful launch.

You are active in the cannabis community both professionally, and personally. Can you share what this community means to you? Does it play into your creative process at all?

This community means the world to me. As a young professional, you’re constantly just trying to keep afloat while discovering who you are in professional environments. The moment I stepped foot into my first grow op, I felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. The years of shame and hiding my consumption was suddenly OVER. All of the sudden, I was surrounded with the most loving, kind, intelligent, talented hard workers I have ever met. This industry has proven to be fast paced and chaotic, and those who thrive are usually true cannabis advocates. My new found pride and the support from our community certainly continues to motivate me to continue my little side gig.

Have you always been a cannabis advocate? What drew you to being a vocal opponent to the stigma associated with this plant?

In short, yes; however, I can say I am way more confident and louder when I speak about the topic of cannabis consumption now.  Not all disabilities are visible to the eye. Chronic pain and mental health are just as valid reasons to consume as any physical ailment that you are hoping to aid. I want people to know that cannabis can aid in processing emotions, reflecting, and therefore healing in a holistic manner.

Where do you get your inspiration for when it comes to new designs and products? Do you have any particular process you work through?

The medicine itself is the inspiration. My next goal is to create rosin lookalikes… I am still pretty new to crafting so I have a lot of room to grow my SKU’s with different consistencies that you can find in different markets. Trial and error really is the process for creating a new consistency.

I know the name Ganja Is Fem is both an ode to the plants gender, and it also pays homage to the role women play in establishing and building the foundation of the cannabis industry. Do you have any mentors or special women you work or collaborate with to help strengthen those roots?

Every single woman I have met in this industry has inspired me. From cultivation, the packagers, the processors, the trimmers, HR, and even maintenance / cleaning crew members have all showcased their resilience, hard work, passion, and grit. I’m so lucky and grateful to be surrounded by so many amazing women. Even those I’ve never met before, continue to shine and inspire via LinkedIn or their other social media outlets.

I have collaborated with multiple people with giveaways on IG (ex: The Smokers Section), I’ve also worked with GPs on display items in different markets, and have even made custom pins with a company’s logo on them.

Have you faced much opposition to the brand because it is cannabis themed? Have you been able to grow the brand how you want with these restrictions?

Not really! My crafts are fully for the cannabis industry. Usually, anyone outside of the industry or community doesn’t have much to say as they don’t really understand what a concentrate is in the first place, ha! If anything, it’s a great conversation starter to cannabis as a holistic healing aid. In the beginning of my Etsy journey, I realized quickly that I had to clarify that the products are Epoxy Resin and do not contain any THC or anything for consumption after some of my etsy postings were temporarily removed and under review when I first started.

What have you not built yet, but would love to do?

I’d like to expand the consistency options. Right now, I specialize in Live Sugar lookalikes and a saucy/buttery texture. Rosin, shatter, and diamonds are on my list of accomplishments.

Where is the most unexpected place you have shipped an order to? And what did they order (if you want to share)?

I have shipped to Alaska! They ordered a pin and a pendant / necklace. Super cool!

Since we know you are a fan of the Sativas, what are your top 3 favorite strains to dab of all time?

  • Golden Goat remains as the OG sativa that made me fall in love with sativas.
  • White Durban continues to stay in my stash since it is readily available (unlike Golden Goat now a days).
  • Sage was also another discontinued cultivar that was perfect for mood boosting and relaxation.

What is up next for Ganja Is Fem?

Only time will tell! I participated in my first table event at the Pittsburgh Cannabis Festival, but I’d like to set up at the Kutztown festival perhaps next year.
