Quick Stats: 5.0 miles / More Difficult / Loop Trail / Yellow & Red Blazes
Sometimes the trails and trees give you just what you need. The second hike of 60 Hikes did just that. After some fresh coffee last Sunday morning, I decided I was going to head out to the Evansburg Start Park which is about forty five minutes from South Philly. It was a cool Sunday morning with big blue skies after an early shower. A few puffy clouds floated in from time to time. It was warm enough to sweat a little when hiking, but comfortable when taking a break to take in the calming, effortlessly relaxing Skippack Creek. There was a refreshing and energizing breezes flowing over and through the forest canopy. It seemed like every bird was chirping. I felt like I was hiking in someones mood board.
There are a few different places to come in and out of the trail so be sure to check out a map to guide you to the best trailhead to join The trail was 95% shaded and hugged the creek the whole way. Every view felt rewarding. It did not matter if you were creekside skipping rocks or higher up on the ridge line taking it all in from the higher vantage pint. I did not take my trekking poles with me on this hike, but I wish I would have. It has a few ups and downs that would have benefitted from them.
There are a few other trails of varying difficulty in the park, and I am already excited to get back to check those out.
