It was one of those early October autumn Saturdays that felt like perfection. The sky was a perfect inviting shade of blue. The breezes swept in every so slightly. The sun was a shade of honey that seemed like it was never going to set. It was the perfect day to hit a local trail. I completed another hike from my list of 60. On this perfect day, I walked the White path at The Franklin Parker Preserve.

This preserve is located 42 miles East of Philadelphia in Speedwell, NJ. The preserve had over 10,000 acres and has something to see around every corner. Wetlands, Cranberry plants, moss, lichens, and wildlife galore surrounds you as you walk the 4.5 mile white path. I got there a little later than I wanted, but it ended up being worth it. As I mentioned, the sun dripped a golden glow around the whole preserve. The kind of light and feel that reminds you that we are part of something bigger than ourselves. A warm reminder we are a part of nature and this planet, not just observers of it.
I knew that the sunset was shaping up to be something special. So, I started staking out where I wanted to get my shots. I found a nice stump to sit on along some of the marshland. I just let Mother Nature do her thing. She did not disappoint. I took so many great images of just the sunset. I am going to do a separate post just on those images.

I was the only one there that I know of. No other cars were at the trail head. I did not see anyone else during the few hours I spent hiking and photographing the preserve. It felt like I had found this brand new world only an hour from home. I am eager to return in different seasons. I want to see what this place is like at other times of the year. Simply magic.
