Sometimes duty calls, and this time, it called me to St.Louis. It was a whirlwind for work but managed to get in some sights and sounds and bites.
In the mornings, I found myself mostly walking around my hotel in downtown St. Louis. For the first day or so I was really caught off guard by just how few people there were down in the city. With Center City being such a hub of activity here in Philly, it was just a little chin scratching until I spoke with some good local folks. What I wasn’t aware of initially is that the downtown section has been really evacuated minus a handful of hotels and a few old staples, but that most of the action was out “in the county”. The population was still very much alive and well in St. Louis, it had just shifted where the center of it is. It was not where I stayed, I can say that.
I found myself among empty parking garages, a ton of graffiti, old buildings, the last cold breezes of spring, and the unique ways that we as humans mark our world. Here are some B&W and Color Galleries:
